Steps to Take
1. Mark up the pages you are going to read. Mark where to pause, where to breathe, how to vary your tone. Check out this video: An Audiobook Narrator: Breathing Lesson
2. Look up and make notes on pronunciations. Look up and make notes on any content you're even slightly unsure about.
3. Get ready to read. Watch this NPR Video. Try the exercises described in this video..
4. Set up your marked-up printed pages so that you don't need to touch them when you read.

- Think about your pacing: As a listener, can you take in every word that is being read?
- Think about your breath: Is your breath aligned with the text's phrasing and punctuation?
- Think about your intonation: Does the tone of your voice match the emotional tenor of the piece? Dialogue shouldn't be caricatured, etc.
