Special Award in Humor & Satire

The Special Award in Humor & Satire recognizes an exceptional work in the genre, with special priority given to works that challenge or disrupt dominant narratives about identity, culture, and the environment. This award highlights works that emphasize the politics of our progressive journal, including an ethos of "punching up." These are works that target their use of humor or satire against dominant groups perpetuating oppression or systemic violences. Punching up does not perpetuate oppressions against historically marginalized peoples. This award is funded  by an anonymous donor.
